Five things to understand about a pineapple’s core

If you’ve been following me for a while, you understand that I am on a journey to live my life like a pineapple. In this post, I want to share who molded the person behind the brand. Here are five things you need to understand about a pineapple’s core.

Solid Foundation
A pineapple is built on a solid foundation. If the foundation isn’t solid – a pineapple can’t stand tall. What does it mean to have a solid foundation? It means you are steadfast in your beliefs, passionate about your values and surrounded by people that support you in your endeavors.

 Sweet on the Inside
A pineapple is sweet on the inside. If it isn’t sweet – the pineapple is rotten. I believe that a positive attitude and kind heart will get you much farther than a negative one. Keeping a smile on your face and finding the life lessons from your struggles – will keep your insides full and sweet.

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors…” James 1: 2-4 (MSG)

Tough on the Outside
A pineapple may be sweet on the inside, but it is tough on the outside. If we always did what people wanted us to do or allowed their words to bring us down, our pineapple core would be vulnerable. In this world, it is important to love others, but there are times when we must love ourselves first. We must show off our tough skin and carry on our journey while others simply don’t understand.

Wears the Crown
A pineapple, no matter the size, always wears a crown. If a pineapple didn’t come with long green leaves on the top—would it even be a pineapple?  Showing ourselves love isn’t always the easiest thing to do – sometimes it is easier to be quick and judge ourselves. But, we must be confident, embrace our unique characteristics and be proud of the person that we are.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalms 139:14 (KJV)

 Remains Standing
A pineapple always remains standing. When you get down to the core of a pineapple…you will find confidence. No matter the circumstance, a pineapple takes the lessons learned and stands a little taller. It isn’t easy to always stand tall and have confidence in yourself – but having the pineapple mindset when you walk into a room – is a great place to start.

By no means is my pineapple core perfect. I have a tendency to forget at least three of these five things and often my anxiety overtakes my confidence.

But, I told you at the beginning I wanted to share who molded the person behind the brand.

That person is my mother.

My mother – the true pineapple – is my solid foundation. She reminds me to be sweet on the inside but tough on the out. Her love shows me what I deserve and never to compromise that. Her confidence in who I am allows me to readjust and remain standing.

We all have people in our lives that inspire us, that help us become the person that we are today and the person we will be tomorrow. No matter the situation, that person is my momma.

Happy Birthday Momma – I hope you know how much I appreciate you. Thank you for helping me along my pineapple journey.
